Edward Abbott Ravenscroft maintains an active lifestyle and especially enjoys hiking trails in the many national parks of the American West. One of the National Parks that Edward Abbot Ravenscroft frequents is Utah’s Zion National Park. His two favorite hiking trails within the park are the Canyon Overlook and Northgate Peaks trails.
The Canyon Overlook Trail is an hour-long hike accessible via the east entrance of the park from the Canyon Overlook Trailhead. Stretching about a mile, this trail takes you over the Great Arch and offers views of Bridge Mountain, the East Temple, and Pine Creek Stream. While this trail begins with some steps, most of it is flat. In the summer, the Canyon Overlook Trail can get crowded.
The Northgate Peaks Trail is a less-traveled trail accessible from the Wildcat Canyon Trailhead, which is just over 15 miles up Kolob Terrace Road. The mostly level trail is about 4 miles long and takes between two to four hours to complete. The high elevation of the trail means it is cool in the summer months, and the pines and forested meadows are fairly different from the typical Zion National Park scenery.
